Some of y'all are aware that I used to be very hardcore right-wing when I was younger. Because of that, I’m not surprised at all by what’s been happening or by what you’re going to read a little bit downthread from here. Going back at least to my teenage years and probably farther, there has always been an undercurrent running through mainstream right-wing political thought that the only way to make this country truly great is by bloodshed. By a purge. Specifically a purge of Leftists, Communists, liberals, feminists, LGBTQA folks, “uppity” minorities, anyone who doesn’t fit their idea of America. I remember seeing it over 30 years ago, reading the pages of Soldier of Fortune magazine, with their praises of brutal dictators and tyrants who did “what must be done”, meaning the large-scale torture and murder of anyone who wasn’t a God-fearing capitalist heterosexual. I remember seeing the copies of The Turner Diaries at gun shows, the penultimate white supremacist fantasy novel, gleefully depicting a world where the white man finally stepped up and eliminated all the “degenerate” peoples of the planet.

More recently, in the past ten years or so, I remember seeing hordes of people on internet forums bemoaning the fact that cops breaking up tree-sit protests against clearcutting didn’t use live ammo on the protesters. I remember them making fun of Beth O'Brien after she fell 150 feet to her death in 2002 trying to prevent clearcutting near Eagle Creek here in Oregon. She harmed no one. The timber industry itself has done more damage to peoples’ livelihoods and to the towns they’ve sucked dry and abandoned than any protest in the history of logging. But they still celebrated her death, because in their minds, it needed to happen and the only regret they have is that they weren’t directly involved.

And now here we are, 24 hours and some change after bombs were mailed to Obama, Clinton, Soros, pretty much everyone on the right’s hate list. Now you know me, I have no love for these people. But we’re in territory now that many of you aren’t prepared for in the slightest. Nine packages that could be explosive devices were sent to nine people who have been focal points of right-wing rage for the past decade. You now live in a country where someone or some group of people probably just attempted to assassinate nine major political and social figures. At the very least, they were sent a message: “You need to die.”.

This is on the heels of the announcement that Trump’s administration is working on undoing every single legal protection transgender/non-binary folks have in this country.

This is on the heels of right-wing thugs being treated with kid gloves while they assault people in public.

This is on the heels of Heather Heyer being blamed for her own murder.

This is on the heels of now-numerous spree killings with direct connections to the alt-right.

And I have to wonder at this point if some of y'all are even paying attention. I have to wonder if this will be the moment when you look around and realize how deep in the shit we are. I have to wonder if you’re going to finally understand that the cops aren’t going to save you, because they’re too busy firing concussion grenades at peoples’ heads and shooting unarmed POC in their own homes. I have to wonder if you’re going to finally understand that the military isn’t going to save you either because enough of the people in it who want you dead will defect from it to cripple any kind of stateside operation. I have to wonder if you still think you can use gun control to defang the people who want you dead when they’ve shown you, repeatedly, how easily they can circumvent any law you put in place. I have to wonder if you remember any of the multiple news reports of people stealing guns and explosives from military bases and how few of those stories end with those items being recovered.

I will say it again: the people who want you dead have never been planning on fighting “the government”. This is a fiction created to invoke the comforting vision of a bunch of bumblefucks with rifles getting handily slaughtered by the authorities (who in this fiction, inexplicably rise to the defense of the very people they’ve been stomping the shit out of for generations). This fiction lets you sleep at night because it allows you to tell yourself that something like Rwanda or Sarajevo will never happen here, since the people who want you dead will immediately come into conflict with the cops and the feds and the military, be wiped out inside of a week, and you won’t even have to worry about missing out on brunch.

As I said, this is a fiction. Stop believing it. It’s never been about shooting it out with the authorities and trying to take over the entire country by force. It’s always been about rolling into your neighborhoods WITH the authorities backing them up, and then dragging you out of your homes to be murdered or worse. It’s about taking over the institutions that run this country, and then using them to make that purge happen. Now it’s just starting to happen in a way that’s visible to just about all of you no matter how clueless you’ve been. With that in mind, please move on to my next post at your earliest convenience.

Nation-Wide House Cleansing Ritual

We are looking to organize a nation wide “House Cleansing” Ritual to be held on December 15th. The idea is as such: On that day we invite all witches to join us in the intent of cleaning house on our corrupt government here in the US. Choose a space; your alter, your room, your home, whatever you please. Spend time cleaning you space while focusing on the change you want to see on a grand scale.

When you have finished tidying, grab your favorite sage bundle and let’s get to cleansing! Feel free to use any invocations that may feel right, pair with candle work, or keep things as simple as you like.

We have seen an unprecedented time of hatred, prejudice, racism, homophobia and so much more under the current administration. Let us use our power to fight for good.
